Selling Guide & Rules

SELLING AT CAR BOOT SALES IS REALLY EASY IF YOU STICK TO A FEW GOLDEN RULES!

Our Advice

Here are a few pointers but if you have any other queries you can also contact us

Timing/Arrival

Its best to come to the car boot near the opening time of 8am so you have adequate time to prepare your stall. Please be patient and prepared to wait at times during the early morning set up period. Its very important that we make no noise during the early hours and show respect to local residents.

Be Ready

Have a suitable bag, purse or money belt on you so you can keep your money safe and be ready to close a sale and make a profit.

Change

Make sure you have adequate change so you never turn away a customer or have to knock down your price. Please bring the correct money for your pitch fee and have it ready before the entrance as this greatly speeds up the set up for everyone.

Company

It’s really important to have a companion with you if possible. Not only can they help you with setting up but fetch the super important coffee and cake or cover while you dash to the loo.

Loading

Think about the way you pack your vehicle. Its best practise to load those items last which you need first, especially your thermos and chair. If your items are heavy ask a fellow seller for help.

Table/Tarpaulin sheet

Tables are a great way to present your merchandise to buyers, not only are they more likely to be attracted to your stall but they don’t have to bend down again and again to inspect goods that may otherwise be on the floor. If that is the case always ensure you have adequate sheeting material.

Refreshments/snacks

Having a hot/cold drink and some snacks will get you through the event and keep you more chirpy and ready to deal with the buyers. We have food available so if you’re stuck just stroll over to the food vendors on site.

Rules

Parking Rules

All vehicles entering the grounds of St Helier open space who are not sellers must pay the £2 parking charge. This includes all taxis, people coming to be dropped off or collected. There is no exceptions to the charge! If you wish to avoid this charge please park in one of the many near by streets. Strictly under no circumstances are any vehicles permitted into the boot sale after 11:55am as this becomes one way traffic for vehicles leaving the boot sale only.

Please park your vehicles as directed by the onsite traffic marshals who will outline your setting up space.

No Littering

Kindly respect the Open Space by placing all litter in the bins on site. Suttonboot will report any fly tipping/dumping to the local authority with photographic/CCTV evidence.

Disabled Parking

We have limited disabled parking spaces towards the front of the boot sale and blue badges must be presented on entrance. (the £2 parking fee still applies)
